Fanksh, Mellymel! zoinks! I'm going to Arizona next week. I have thoughts aplenty. I prefer Tucson, but any direction, there are fabulous fabulous things to see. Then again, I'm not a warm-weather girl, so I'm for Arizona in the winter.

It takes a while. mmhm. Glad I could help. Snoink. Does anyone have any thoughts on Arizona? There's a possibility I might be moving to Arizona. Chandler, which is just south of Pheonix. Are there tarantulas there?

I did read the great tampon incident. That was disgustiating.

I think what should or should not be done is always up for debate, but as you can't control what others will do, whether they should or should not, you should certainly not let it get to you. The house will inevitably mess. That is the yes of it. Ponk!

Can I bitch for one teeny little minute? I have need of a free-floating rant, but the offending party reads my bloody blog and I can't do it there. What is up with people who arrive at a dinner party bloody early??? After a crap weekend of having housecleaning thwarted by the slings and arrows of a cruel universe, I called my friends' home phone and cell phone all day Monday trying to cancel the dinner I'd planned to serve them. My house looked like Beirut--puke and doodoo everywhere. They didn't check their bloody messages all day and showed up anyhoo, and early at that on Monday. I said 'you didn't get my messages?' and friend said 'we've been out all day and i left my cell phone home.' SO, despite trying to cancel the affair, I had the additional stress of them seeing my home in a shambles, which was what I'd hoped to avoid to begin with. I arranged for them to come back the following evening. My routine when company is coming is to spend the whole day preparing and spend the last 30 minutes before they arrive de-compressing, sipping champagne, and putting on makeup and getting dressed. They arrived about 40 minutes early the second night, and you wouldn't believe how that stressed me out. SO BLOODY immaculately inconsiderate as to blow my mind. I am not a hotel. I am not a restaurant. I'm not Tom bloody Bodette. To me it is vastly more rude to show up for a dinner party at someone's home nearly an hour early than it would be to be an hour late. Pick a pretty spot and park, and arrive ten minutes early. Drive around and admire the scenery. Don't anger or disrupt the hostess--she has a schedule. Let's just say I won't be invinting those people over again for a very very long time. They are fabulous human beings whom I simply adore, but that stressed me out more than I can convey - I actually had to fight back tears both times they showed up, and that's saying something. I never cry. Hardly ever.

Spalding Gray is an actor/performance artist. He was in "The Killing Fields" and also in "Beyond Rangoon," which is a superb film starring Patricia Arquette. Both are true stories, btw. I recommend them both. ...lurved your picassaroonies, Annlet. Sorry I didn't get your message in time to call you back. Have been out of pocket all day. We must get together soon. It's been WAAAAY too long! ...oh, and we went to see The Return of the King tonight, and that was fun. Good fillim.

you described it perfectly phlegmlett. the bad out ways the good. it can also make you feel totally insane and paranoid which causes much anxiety and because your brain is not firing properly it can be hard to get a grip. in the end i do not regret experiementing with it but alas am too old to even think about it any longer.

My only addiction was coffee. Actually, I had a wild coffee-lust dream a few nights ago. Remember that I kicked coffee about 20 months ago? I pretty much totally abstain because it messes up my sleep and enervates me. Anyway, in this dream I was practically diving into a giant coffee beaker, and it was almost a sexual type of mania. I was being really "naughty" and loving it. I kept thinking 'I'm sooooo BAD' & I grinned like a fiend as I sugared-and-creamed it up. Woot! Dream caffeine is ok, right? Don't bother with the acid bit, love--not worth the trouble. The wierdy-giggly-trippy bit is fun for a few hours, but then it always took me about 8 hours to go to sleep, and it was exhausting and I was bored with the wired-ness of it all long before I could get any rest. Frustrating too, because in the midst of the experience, you can have a profound sense of understanding of life, everything and all the restaurants in the universe, but you can't hang on to that feeling or impulse, and you later wonder what it was that was so amazing to you. It's sad, actually. I hate feeling like I'm on the verge of understanding it all, only to be reminded how little I know of anything.

I loved the acid art - it seemed like interesting abstractions to me, and not the psychotic mess I anticipated. OK, it was a little messy, but still better than I could have done on a good day. Must put Nottingham on my list for my next trip over there. Must take tape recorder, too. I am so totally itching to go to England right now. I hope I can make it this year.
