Kickflip FAQs

Part 2: Frequently asked questions.

Dateline: 24 October 20000

I get a lot of questions regarding specific problems landing tricks. Here's one I received recently along with the answer I gave. If you have any tips or questions, send them in and we'll pass them along. Every little bit helps.

Question:

Title: Kickflipping

Inquiry: How do you get your front foot back on after you flip the board? My foot always goes to the side and my back foot lands on the board. What should I do? I can't (hover).

Answer:

Make sure that you keep your shoulders squared. If your torso twists you're liable to land to the side instead of over the board. It all depends on landing over the trucks so keep your body straight.

Also, hovering isn't actually hovering as you don't actually remain suspended, it just feels that way as you cross an arc in the air. You might need to jump higher to extend your "hang time" so get those knees up to your chest. Once you get a feel for it you'll be able to adjust this accordingly.

If this doesn't help, feel free to write back. You can also check out the forum: http://forums.about.com/ab-skateboard/start. A lot of folks in there can and are more than willing to help with just this sort of thing.
